Infosys Technologies , country’s second-largest software services exporter, beat street estimates with a 13 per cent rise in quarterly net profit helped by increased spending on IT projects by clients.

Bangalore-based Infosys said on Friday net profit for its second quarter ended Sept 30 rose to Rs 1740 crore ($395 million) from Rs 1540 crore a year ago.

Brokerages polled by Reuters had forecast profit of Rs 1717 crore for Infosys, which counts Goldman Sachs, BT Group and BP among its main clients

Infosys added net 7,646 staff in September quater. Infosys says 2010/11 dollar revenue seen up 24-25 per cent vs 19-21 per cent forecast in July.
