A 18-year-old girl committed suicide on Wednesday, Oct 27 after yielding to severe depression over the circulation of an MMS showing her in a compromising position.

Police has identified the girl as a diploma student of Siliguri Government Polythechnic College.

The obscene clips were allegedly captured and circulated by a student of the college, identified as Anindya Garai.

The girl is learnt to have met Anindya at hostel mess where she was filmed on a mobile phone. She later became aware of the MMS and lodged a police complaint in Sep 2010.

However, she buckled under the pressure and took the extreme step as the accused was reportedly blackmailing her as well.
