The counting of votes for the local body elections began.
The counting would be held in 216 counting centres at block and corporation or municipality levels. At the block level centres, there would be separate counting rooms for each village panchayat for counting of votes to three-tier bodies.
Election Commission has directed all district collectors to provide adequate security inside and outside the centres during the counting.
List of 2nd Phase Polling Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts
As many as 1.23 crore voters will cast their votes in the second stage to decide the fate of 41,015 candidates vying for 12,374 positions in 698 local self-government bodies. Almost 25,000 cops have been deployed for election duty.
The voting percentage for the second phase polls in the seven districts are as follows:- 
Alappuzha – 77.7%
Kottayam 75.64%
Idukki 75%
Ernakulam-73 %
Thrissur 73%
Palakkad 75% 
and Malappuram 75.6%.
